about rod ray

photoofrod

Rod Ray is in his twelth year as the head tennis coach at Wofford College. Since taking over the helm of Wofford tennis program, the program has shown marked improvement. The Wofford tennis program has high standards and consistently fights hard.

The team has been one of the few men's team in the Southern Conference to earn special recognition from the NCAA for being in the top ten percent in their sport with regard for outstanding academic acheivement (APR). The team has  earned this recognition for four years in a row.

In addition, the team has also been recognized by the NCCA for having outstanding sportsmanship. In 2009, they won a national award by the NCAA ITA Ethics and Infractions Committee for exemplifying outstanding sportsmanship, character, and ethical conduct in the true spirit of competition.

Ray runs the camp the same way he runs his team, by placing an emphasis on communication and integrity. Simple hard work, empathy, kindness, and determination are all very important to Coach Ray.

Coach Ray and his wife, Merritt, have two children, Cole 11 and Ashe 10.
